Guiding Families Through Life’s Biggest Transitions

Southern Estate Planning Law Group, LLC

Protecting What Matters Most—Your Family, Your Legacy, Your Peace of Mind.

I didn’t begin my legal career the traditional way. My journey started in the bustling world of real estate transactions. I loved the energy of helping families close on their dream homes and build wealth through property. But then, the 2007–2008 crash hit. Virtually overnight, 90% of my real estate practice disappeared.

As I worked through that difficult time, I noticed something: my clients, many of them scared and unsure of their financial future, began asking me about asset protection. They weren’t just worried about buying or selling homes anymore—they were worried about losing everything.

Still, like many others, I followed the advice to diversify. I added immigration, divorce, and personal injury to my practice. But life kept pointing me in a different direction.

One of my assistants lost his older brother unexpectedly. He had a will, but it was outdated—created before his second marriage. The house was only in his name. There were children from two marriages, a mother who had previously owned the home, and no clear instructions. The result? Years of chaos in probate court. Everyone was hurt. Everyone was angry.

Not long after, that same assistant became ill with a genetic disorder. He and his longtime fiancée had been together for over seven years, but without legal planning, she had no authority—only conflict with his family over his care and wishes.

Then a dear friend of mine, Clare—a composed, successful Physician Assistant and single mom—came to me in a panic. She’d heard of a couple who tragically died on a their way back from a colleague’s birthday party, leaving behind three children. Since no plan was in place, their kids were taken into foster care before any family could arrive. Worse, the relatives who got custody were not the ones the couple would have chosen. The trauma that followed was heart-wrenching.

Clare realized she had no plan for her own children if something ever happened to her. And as I listened to her fears, it all clicked: this—this—is the work I was meant to do.

That’s when I made the decision to step away from other areas of law and build a firm focused solely on helping families protect their children, their assets, and their legacy.

Who We Are Now

Today, at Southern Estate Planning Law Group, LLC, we don’t just draft legal documents. We build relationships. We guide our clients through the life planning process with clarity, care, and compassion—because we’ve seen what happens when planning fails, and we know how to make sure it doesn’t happen to you.

We believe that estate planning isn’t just for the wealthy—it’s for everyone who loves someone.

Whether you’re a parent of young children, a professional with aging parents, or someone just trying to get your affairs in order, we are here to help you create a plan that ensures your wishes are honored and your family is taken care of—no court battles, no confusion, no conflict.

What Makes Us Different

We are not a traditional estate planning firm. Here’s how we do things differently:

Flat Fees, Always. No hourly billing. You’ll know exactly what it costs to work with us—up front—and you get to choose the fee that works best for your situation.

A Team That’s There When You Need Us. If you’re at the bank and need to know how to title an account, someone from our team will be there to help—no waiting for callbacks or playing phone tag.

Planning is Just the Beginning. Your relationship with us doesn’t end when you sign your documents. We review your plan every three years at no extra charge. And most of our clients choose to join one of our membership programs—so their plans stay current, their assets are aligned, and their families stay out of court and conflict.

We Help You Pass On More Than Just Money. Through our Legacy Interviews, we help you preserve your values, stories, and life lessons—so your children and grandchildren inherit more than just financial assets. They inherit your heart.

A Personal Note

On a personal note, I’m a mother—and what my child brings to this experience for me is a deep awareness that estate planning is something you do not for yourself, but for the people you love the most. The truth is, you won’t be the one to benefit from the plan we create together. The people who will benefit are the ones you leave behind—the ones who will have to navigate life without you, and who deserve to do so with clarity, ease, and peace of mind.

Founder, Southern Estate Planning Law Group, LLC

Ada Egbufor is an estate planning attorney with nearly two decades of legal experience and a unique blend of legal precision and business insight. As the founder of Southern Estate Planning Law Group, she helps families—especially those with young children—protect what matters most through thoughtful, compassionate, and forward-thinking estate plans.

Her journey into estate planning was shaped by the 2007–2008 real estate crisis, when she witnessed families lose everything due to lack of preparation. During that time, Ada also developed hands-on experience managing residential real estate closings, which deepened her understanding of how families acquire and lose wealth—and how vital it is to protect it. Coupled with years of legal service in immigration, personal injury, and family law, Ada’s experiences made one thing clear: families need more than just legal documents—they need guidance, empathy, and a plan that works in real life.

With both a Juris Doctor and an MBA, Ada approaches estate planning not only from a legal lens, but with a deep understanding of family wealth, business strategy, and generational impact. She developed the firm’s signature Minor Children Protection Plan to ensure parents have the peace of mind that their children will always be cared for by the people they choose, in the way they want.

Clients value Ada’s warm, clear communication and her ability to make the complex feel manageable. She is especially passionate about empowering professionals, entrepreneurs, and blended families to create legacies rooted in love and intention.

Outside the office, Ada hosts the podcast I Am Catholic, where she shares reflections on faith, life, and spiritual growth. She also mentors young professionals and enjoys time with her family.
